If you satisfy the qualifications listed below,
you are eligible for membership. While the Coalition provides
a forum for strengthening relations between the member author
groups, all groups involved zealously guard their independence.
The only endeavor you would be signing onto would be the collection
and distribution (to member organizations) of foreign non-title
specific reprographic rights payments.
Qualifications:
Your organization
- must have at least 500 authors or estates thereof whose
work is commercially distributed outside the United States,
is reasonably capable of being photocopied abroad and is
not self-published, or whose work, if self-published has
no fewer than 1,000 copies sold, is commercially distributed
outside the United States and is reasonably capable of being
photocopied abroad; and
has as it primary purpose the professional advancement
of authors; and
is a national organization whose membership is not limited
to authors of any single city, state, region or locality;
and
has not received more than $25,000 or 25% of its gross
receipts, whichever is greater, from sources other than
the sale of publications by the organization that promote
the collective interests of its authors and/or authors dues,
fees, assessments, contributions, conference fees and similar
payments in more than two out of five years; and
does not discriminate among its potential members on the
basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, political
beliefs or national origin.
If your organization meets the above qualifications,
you may apply for membership by submitting corporate documents
(i.e. bylaws or Articles of Incorporation) and an affidavit
swearing to items 1 thru 5.
